The IPEF (Forestry Science and Research Institute) was created in 1968, as a nonprofit institution. Its mission is to promote the scientific, technological and sustainable development of the forest sector.

To accomplish this mission IPEF has some goals as follows:

• To promote scientific and enterprise integration and interaction, research accomplishment and human resources training.
• To keep close contact and to contribute with national and worldwide organizations congenerous.
• To support the maintenance of research centers, laboratories, technical libraries and other similar structures.
• To promote and/or to support the accomplishment of symposiums, seminaries, workshops, courses and similar activities.
• To communicate and/or to support technical-scientific works by means of publications (books, magazines, periodicals etc.) and electronic media (Internet, CD-ROM etc.).
• To produce and to make accessible forest seeds with genetic, physical and physiological quality for forest’s companies, agricultural producers, researches entities and society in general.

As a base for the development of its work, IPEF has made an agreement with USP (São Paulo University) in order to get the participation of ESALQ – Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture - represented by its department (LCF - Department of Forest Sciences). Additionally, IPEF also celebrated technical-scientific agreements with other national and foreign universities and institutes.

Historically, IPEF has been responsible for the creation of the most sophisticated techniques for the forests quality improvement and productivity, concerning what they represent in the economic, social and environmental context.

Company - University Integration

Since 1968, IPEF has been distinguished to play an important part of the scientific and technological development on the forest sector.

Evolving each year by means of strong partnership with Luiz de Queiroz Colleege of Agriculture Department of Forest Sciences), it has been more than three decades offering development and technology research conditions, towards quality improvement, productivity and use of the forests, contributing for its development and making it economically viable, environmentally adjusted and socially fair.

Working in net, researches are developed for shared orientation results. In this context IPEF counts with partners in the titular, collaborator and individual categories. For each category differentiated contributions, participation and advantages are foreseen.
